New Feature: Ruby, Please Take Your Love To Town
One of the best things about the Atlanta scene over the past year has been the consistently outstanding live shows of Soulphonics & Ruby Velle. They are the next big thing out of Atlanta, and they will be releasing their first official single on March 6th at one of Atlanta’s best live music venues The Earl. Ruby and the boys were nice enough to personally donate a sample of their upcoming single “Feet On The Ground“, which will soon be available on iTunes. They have the sound, they have the look, they have the horn section, and they have her. You’ll see what I mean.

Element Records press release:

Soulphonics & Ruby Velle to perform with Lee Fields on Sat, March 6th

Not only is the band proud to release their new single “Feet On The Ground” at this show, they are also making it a special evening with the legendary Lee Fields backed by the Soulphonics for a rare and special performance not to be missed by any soul R&B fanatics in the entire southern region. Lee’s career began decades ago and has landed him on stages around the world, since the 70′s and now The Soulphonics and he will both add one more special performance to their list. As he is already renowned throughout the global funk community, he has had great recent success on his latest record ‘My World’ with The Expressions, based out of Brooklyn, NY.

News Feature: Jay Reatard, R.I.P.
Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard, was found dead in his Memphis home on Jan. 10th. And despite his, um, special stage name, Jay Reatard was a really talented musician. I only just discovered him last summer, but he had a great indie rock/punk/metal sound, and it definitely sucks that we won’t get to hear anymore from him.

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
