New Feature: The Next Pornographers
Gold Motel is the solo project of The Hush Sound singer Greta Salpeter, their new album Summer House was the find of the month for us, it’s upbeat power pop with big female vocals reminiscent of Neko Case and Kathryn Calder of The New Pornographers, the album maintains a consistent level of awesome throughout. A band like this is the exact reason we keep doing this every month. Go forth and support!

Gold Motel – Fireworks After Midnight

New Feature: The Constellation Prize!
We have been following Atlanta’s The Constellations for years, pretty much the entire life of HR’d, and the band’s first album, Southern Gothic, has now been officially released, again, this time on big bad Virgin Records, with two new recordings, a slightly modified track list, and the same old dirty funk. This album is a total crowd pleaser from start to finish, it’s available everywhere, and needs to be part of your summer soundtrack.

Below is a perfect example of what the band is all about, as well as the original 2008 version of album closer “On My Way Up”:

The Constellations – Perfect Day
The Constellations – On My Way Up (original version)

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
