EMA (Erika M. Anderson) released her debut album, Past Life Martyred Saints, in May 2011. The first released track off the album, “Milkman,” is available below.
The Los Angles-based EMA is a native of South Dakota and was formerly in Amps For Christ and made up, along with Ezra Buchla, the now-defunct duo Gowns.
On how it felt to record Past Life Martyred Saints, Anderson says, “While making this entire record, I kept thinking about Werner Herzog trying to pull the real-life boat over the real-life mountain in the Amazon to make his film ‘Fitzcarraldo’, and how it’s insane and impossible and everyone around him goes crazy in the process. That’s how I felt while making these songs.”
EMA is currently on tour with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
