Editor’s Note: DeadJournalist.com is testing out some new Mixtapes and new contributors in 2012, and first up is a Mixtape by singer-songwriter Lauren Jordan. Her “B-Sides to Bring Them to the Dark Side” Mixtape features some lesser-known tracks by artists whose success was maily from the Alternative Rock 1990′s. This Mixtape is via a Spotify playlist, so if you don’t have Spotify, you’re out of luck.

B-Sides to Bring Them to the Dark Side
by Laura Jordan

I take great pleasure in tricking people into seeing things in a different light – I fancy myself a magician in that regard.

I once had a man in a Nashville bar listen to my EP and say, “Wow! It’s a different kinda country!” While, I so desperately wanted to say, “That’s because it’s rock ‘n’ roll,” I managed to stifle the sarcastic beast within and continue morphing amazing rock songs into a country jamboree that evening … but there was evil laughter welling up on the inside.

So with that in mind, allow me to provide the exceptions to the rule, a collection of lesser-known tracks that may cause you turn your back on the bright light and drift to the Dark Side…
