Andre Williams has released “Dirt” from his latest album, Hoods and Shades, which comes out on February 28, 2012. Listen to “Dirt” in this post.
The musical legend recorded the album – one he dubbed “the Andre Williams folk album” – in Detroit with contributions from Don Was, Brother Dennis Coffey, Jim White, Greasy Carlisi (Robert Gordon, Chris Spedding) and Jim Diamond with his longtime producer Matthew Smith.
Williams has spent more then 50 years in music as a writer, producer and recording artist. As a writer, he’s written such R&B classics as “Shake A Tail Feather” as well as written and recorded punk tracks like “Bacon Fat” (covered by the Cramps), “Greasy Chicken”and “Jail Bait”.
He produced artists like Ike Turner, Parliament/Funkadelic, Edwin Starr and Stevie Wonder; and has recorded his own albums that range from classic R&B to garage punk with artists such as New Orleans Hellhounds,Demolition Doll Rods, the Dirtbombs and Jack White.
