BRAINSTORM
Portland-based band BRAINSTORM will be releasing their album, Heat Waves, on October 2, 2012. In advance of the album, listen to the track “Vanessa” from the band’s split 7″ with Mdou Moctar in this post.
The band’s sound draws immediate comparisons to other experimental bands like Dirty Projectors, with good reason. Their full-length album was produced by Robby Moncrieff who has worked with Dirty Projectors, Ganglians and Youth Lagoon.
The band recorded several covers – including “Vanessa” – by Nigerian musician Mdou Moctar. The band plans to travel to Nigeria to record with him this Winter. Listen to Mactar’s “Anar” below.
