Sunday Night Videos Holiday Edition (12.20.09) and RIP Brittany Murphy

The plan for this week’s Sunday Night Videos was to showcase a few new songs – since I went with some of my person favs last week – and then throw out some of my favorite holiday videos. But, with Brittany Murphy’s death today, I’ve decided to showcase her video as Video of the Week. That bumped Julian Lennon’s new video for “Lucy” to co-Video of the Week.

Artists featured this week (new videos) include: Julian Lennon, Capgun Coup, The Pity Party, Phil and the Osophers, Dodos and Gringo Star. Holidays videos are by: Julian Casablancas, Band Aid, The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, Alabama, Adam Sandler, Paul McCartney, Run DMC, No Doubt, David Bowie and Bing Crosby, Dan Fogelberg and Wham!.

Another weekend is behind us, so to get ready for another late-Fall work-week, here’s this week’s DeadJournalist.com Sunday Night Videos. The Video of the Week is by The Drums, a band you may not have heard of this year, but one that is set to be one of the biggest break-through bands of 2010.

The Sunday Sixteen features videos by Cassettes Won’t Listen, White Denim, Jay Reatard, Blank Dogs, Thieves Like Us, Bloc Party, Urban Dance Squad, Living Colour, TV on the Radio, 120 days, Best Coast, Tiny Vipers, Electelane, Grizzly Bear, Shout Out Louds and Billy Joe Shaver.

Sunday Night Videos (11/29/09)

As we wind down this holiday weekend and make our way back to reality, here’s this week’s DeadJournalist.com Sunday Night Videos.

This week’s Video of the Week is from Lo La Tengo from 1997 because “Sugarcube” is one of the best indie videos of the decade. And I had to add Atari Teenage Riot as a nice little tie-in to round out the set.

Other videos this week include: Kurt Vile, Jemina Pearl, Atlas Sound, The xx and The Sounds as well as Thoa with the Get Down Stay Down, Midlake, Crystal Castles, Broken Social Scene and The Unicorns, among others.
